Emmerdale's Danny Miller teases permanent return as he admits he took 'huge risk' leaving

Emmerdale's Danny Miller says he would be up for a permanent return to the ITV soap one day.

The actor departed as Aaron Dingle in emotional scenes last year, ahead of his stint on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, which he went on to win. Aaron left the village after his boyfriend Ben Tucker was murdered by evil serial killer Meena Jutla.

Danny is back on the soap to celebrate its 50th anniversary next month, and he has opened up about the huge 'risk' that he took in deciding to quit the show when he did. He also spoke of his excitement at being back on the programme once again.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press ahead of his Emmerdale return, he said: "Obviously never did I imagine that I'd be going on I'm A Celebrity, and everything that happened there. I never imagined that I'd kind of be coming back for a long period of time so soon.

"So when they called to say, would I like to be part of the 50th? I was just obviously instantly interested. I knew the storylines, which kind of attracted me to come to come to come back and celebrate the 50th with such a big part of my life."

He added: "Emmerdale's been huge for me. It was kind of an honour that they wanted me to come and say happy birthday. It has been really nice getting back and seeing everyone and there's a lot of new faces and there's a lot of old faces and it's been nice to get to know them and catch up with the people that I've not seen for a year."

Danny also admitted it was a "risk" him asking to leave the show when he did - especially when evil serial killer Meena Jutla was still about and was on her murder spree around the whole of the Emmerdale village.

"It's a risk, you know, you can't just go up there and say, I'm leaving and don't you dare kill me off. Cause you don't have that say, you know, you're not the boss by any means. I was very grateful to Jane and the team for just sort of sparing my character," he quipped.

Danny hasn't ruled out a permanent return to the ITV soap one day, but admits now isn't the right time.

He said: "It's just nice to be back for a short stint to see everybody, it's kind of like going to a party every day and just catching up with people all over the place and different cast and crew.

"I've got a few things on at the end of the year and then I've got a job next year as well. So it's just not the right time at the moment, but I'm not one of those actors that'd say, you know, oh no, that's it now. And I I've shelved them kind of thing because, as I said, it's a massive part of my, my life, huge part of my life. There's never a chance for me ever saying I'll never go back."

*Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV, with an hour long episode on Thursdays.
