Emmerdale's Daisy Campbell hints at big 'movie style' stunts filmed for 50th anniversary special

Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell has opened up about her experiences working on the show’s 40th anniversary compared to this month’s 50th celebrations.

We know a big storm is going to hit the village as part of the major storyline which will impact on many lives of the residents. The soap’s hour-long special is airing on Sunday, October 16 - 50 years to the day Emmerdale first aired.

In contrast to 10 years ago, Emmerdale bosses have ditched having a live episode and instead lined up a major stunt for the milestone edition. The pregnancy of Daisy Campbell’s character Amelia Spencer will be one of the biggest storylines followed during this month’s celebrations.

Daisy, 19, did briefly feature in the live episode in 2012 and has told fans how the two experiences have differed. Daisy said: “I’d just been on the show for under a year and I was told it was a live episode. I was so excited and we had a full two months of rehearsals. It was so exciting and definitely something I’ll always remember.”

She added: “I feel so honoured and lucky to be part of this huge 50th milestone in Emmerdale’s history. It is such a long time and to be a part of that means so much to me.”

Daisy has spoken very highly of the stunts viewers will soon see and thinks the scenes will last in the memories of fans for years to come. She said: "Honestly, it was so amazing. I think I will remember filming these scenes for the rest of my career. It didn’t feel like normal filming days, which I really love. It felt like we were shooting a film. I feel so honoured and lucky to have experienced a workplace like that. The adrenaline for shooting was like nothing I have felt before, it was crazy.”

The acting star had a useful way of getting herself ready for her high-energy scenes. Daisy explained: “When doing my prep and research before shooting these scenes, I really wanted to feel the fear and intensity of scenes we had ahead.

“So between every scene I ran round the set and jumped up and down right before action was called. I did this to make myself out of breath and sweaty and tired so that I could really feel the exhaustion from what was actually happening. I’ve got to say it did work and I’m definitely gonna use it in future.”
