Emmerdale aired some heartbreaking scenes this weel as Chloe Harris' newborn baby was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
Chloe is leaving the village and was booked on a plane to Scotland, but was forced to change her plans when her son Reuben fell unwell. She felt he was burning up and Victoria, who was with her at the time, suggested they called the GP to find out what might be wrong, with Dr Liam Cavanagh showing up in minutes to check on the baby.
Concerned, he sent them to hospital as a worried Chloe and Victoria stood by to find out what was wrong with the little one.
The doctors then revealed the heartbreaking news to Chloe that the baby likely had bacterial meningitis and they quickly stepped in to treat the little one and do their best to save Reuben.
The sad news filtered through to the village through Matty, and soon Mack's concern was sparked when he found out the baby was gravely ill. He tried to visit the little one, but when asked if he was the father, he said he was just a family friend and so the nurses sent him away.
In more shocking scenes during Friday's instalment of Emmerdale, Chloe accused Mack of wanting their little one dead.
Mack slept with Chloe last year after an argument with his now-wife Charity Dingle, with only a few people knowing about the one-night-stand.
Chloe then gave birth to her son during Mack and Charity's wedding, with Charity still in the dark about her husband's infidelity.
Following the news of baby Reuben's sad diagnosis, Emmerdale viewers are now convinced that Mack may actually not be the father of Chloe's baby as they suspect a paternity twist on the horizon.
Avid fans of the ITV soap are predicting that the baby's paternity will come up again in the near future, when it will be revealed that Mack is not in fact father to baby Rueben.
Taking to Twitter to share their theories, one Emmerdale fan tweeted: "Still don't believe he's the dad. Mack actually makes Charity more human.
"So obvious that the baby is going to turn out not to be his. Baby will probably be ill and on checking blood type, they will find he isn't the father. I suspect Nate," another echoed.
"Agreed, no way in hell that baby is Mack's," someone else shared.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
