Emmerdale's Charley Webb says son refuses to call Matthew Wolfenden 'Daddy' after fans left baffled

Emmerdale favourite Charley Webb has said her youngest son, Ace, refuses to call his father, Matthew Wolfenden, Daddy.

Charley, who is best known for playing Debbie Dingle in the long-running ITV soap, took to Instagram this morning to share a snap of her children's breakfasts that had been laid out by their father along with adorable notes before he headed to work.

However, fans were left baffled as to why their youngest child three-year-old Ace's note was signed from Matthew, whereas the older boys, Buster and Bowie's notes read "love daddy".

The mum-of-three addressed the confusion as she spoke candidly to her 562k Instagram followers in a series of stories.

She said: "I've had so many messages saying why does Matthew's note to Ace say 'To Ace from Matthew' and not daddy, that is because Ace decided that he wasn't going to call him daddy anymore, he calls him Matthew.

"Like not all the time but probably 95% of the time, and because he knows that Matthew doesn't like it, he does it more, it's quite funny.

"But yeah, Ace is not one to follow a rule, in fact, none of my kids are."

The 34-year-old actress followed the stories with a selfie of herself and Ace with the caption: "Not one to conform this one."

Charley is never one to shy away from sharing the trials and tribulations of parenthood and has earned an army of fans who love her brutally honest, and often hilarious, accounts of family life as she juggles being a mum to three boys.

The star was recently praised for honesty after she branded her children "naughty" in an Instagram story where she opened up about a particularly tough parenting day. Charley took to her stories to tell her followers that her day had been ruined by her children's behaviour. She explained that the family were in the car heading out for pancakes for breakfast.

But due to the boys arguing and fighting in the back of the car Charley and Matthew made the decision to turn around and come home, she described it as "a day from hell." Speaking to the camera, the star said: "I can't tell you how many messages I have had about your kids because obviously on Sunday we had the day from hell.

"We were meant to be going for pancakes, turned round came home because the boys were just horrific and everyone's just like I can really relate thank you, thank you, thank you."

She went on to explain: "Let me tell you this, if I posted every time one of my children were horrendous it would be all I posted were all in this together, no kids are perfect, certainly not mine. My friends are like why are your kids so naughty...you tell me, you tell me!

"Because I am strict, I am a strict parent, we have routine, everything is organised and my kids rebel.... they are little sh*ts."

Followers were quick to send messages of solidarity to the mum, praising the actress for her "honesty" and "relatability".
