Emmerdale's Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden unrecognisable in throwback snap

Emmerdale's Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden celebrate their fourth anniversary this week after tying the knot back in 2018 in a surprise ceremony.

Matthew, who plays David Metcalfe on the ITV soap, marked the occasion by sharing an unrecognisable throwback snap of the two of them from the very beginning of their relationship.

The pair have been together for over a decade after meeting on the soap and share three children together - Buster, Bowie and Ace.

Charley and Matthew tied the knot in a rather unusual way after convincing all of their guests they were attending Charley's 30th birthday party, before revealing it was actually their wedding.

The soap stars both took to social media to share a tribute to each other in celebration of their special day.

Matthew's post read: "This photo was taken 15 years ago. We had just 'got together' ... now we've been married 4 years and have 3 amazing, beautiful (always annoying) boys running around the house and driving us mad!

"I knew as we had this photo taken that we'd be together forever. I'd found my soulmate. Love you pal. Happy anniversary."

Fans couldn't believe how different the two looked in the snap as they congratulated the happy couple on their achievement.

@smithpoppy303 posted: "Lovely photo Happy Anniversary, it’s Rare to see Couples together for years and very refreshing to see that long happy relationships/ Marriage still exist."

@Sarahspiller1 replied: "Wow… look at these two."

@anneangels52 added: "A very happy anniversary Matthew and Charley... Beautiful couple, you both make gorgeous children."

While @emmalillie1982 said: "Happy anniversary - this is too cute. Love it."

And the well wishes continued over on Charley's account, the former Debbie Dingle actress opted for a more recent snap of the pair.

She wrote: "Happy 4 years married. This is what our anniversary looks like. 15 years together, 3 children later."

"I'm in pyjamas ready to read my book in bed and [he] is watching a cooking programme. Happy anniversary pal, you wouldn't have it any other way."

Gemma Atkinson, who played Carly Hope on the long-running soap wrote: "Happy anniversary guys."

Anthony Quinn, who played Pete Barton posted the same comment.

Isabel Hodgins who plays Wolfenden's on-screen partner Victoria Sugden, added: "Love you both so much. Happy anniversary. What a wedding it was."
