The soap, which first aired on ITV in 1972, will be celebrating a whopping 50 years of drama and gripping storylines in October.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Emma Atkins, who has played Emmerdale's Charity Dingle for 20 years, confirmed that there were 'big things' to come for the anniversary celebrations. GMB host Richard Madeley talked about how last time Emmerdale had a huge anniversary episode, the cast performed the whole episode live.
He asked: "Do you think you will be doing it again?"
Emma replied: "It was utterly terrifying Richard, I won't lie. I don't think we're doing live but we're going to do something bigger and better.
"What that will be I can't actually say because it's a big secret. But it's going to be big."
Speaking of why the show has been running for so long, she said: "We're there to offer escapism and relief in strange times."
According to the producers, storylines for the huge milestone will be set up in advance and come to a head in the so called "golden month."
It also looks like some old familiar faces could be returning, and some babies may be born.
Speaking in a press conference in January 2022, Jane Hudson said it will be the "biggest year" Emmerdale has "ever had".
She explained: "We need to make this the biggest year we've ever had. We've already got some great stuff planned – maybe a wedding in the summer.
"There are some really big things that will test couples' strength and them as parents, so there is a lot in store."
The producer continued: "We might see some old faces returning, we're not sure yet.
"I think there is a lot coming up – the focus is really to celebrate Emmerdale turning 50. Our focus at the moment is to really build those stories so when we get to our golden month of celebration, we've got secrets that the viewers are desperate to be revealed."
