Emmerdale actress Carryl Thomas, who plays newcomer Cara Robinson on the ITV soap, made her debut on Thursday night.
Her arrival came as a surprise to fans, with it unannounced and not in any spoilers.
She came face-to-face with ex Cain Dingle for the first time in decades, with Cara having fled when she was pregnant with his baby.
Years on, and Cara's return came amid Cain finding out about secret son Nate who had an affair with his wife Moira Dingle.
Nate was planning revenge on his father for abandoning him as a baby, unaware Cain didn't know he existed.

Fans may recognise actress Carryl who plays Cara, from previous TV roles.
But they may also notice a link connecting the actress to another village resident.
Carryl starred in Channel 5 soap Family Affairs between 2003 and 2005.

She played Kelly Boulter on the show - but she wasn't the only cast member to star in the show at this time.
In fact, she worked closely with Al Chapman actor Michael Wildman.
His character was Marc MacKenzie, who happened to be the half-brother of Kelly's ex Justin MacKenzie.

Kelly and Justin had a child together, Susie, making Marc the child's uncle.
Michael only made his Emmerdale debut last year as the father of Ellis Chapman.
It's not yet known how long Cara will be on the show, with new drama teased for the character.
But Carryl will no doubt enjoy a little Family Affairs reunion with her former co-star.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
