Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) returned to the village on Tuesday after spending time with his secret lover Ally (Josh Horrocks) but the nanny and Gabby Thomas' fiancé is struggling to hide his illicit romance from his father Caleb Milligan (William Ash).
Caleb's sole priority is to carry out his revenge plan on Kim Tate (Claire King) who he blames for his father Frank Tate's death.
Nicky found a way into Kim's home by being employed as a nanny and won the heart of Gabby, who has no idea about her fiancé's relationship with Ally.
In Tuesday's instalment, Caleb was left furious with his son when he suspected Nicky had betrayed Gabby and put their plan in jeopardy.
Caleb accused Nicky of spending the night with another woman, which he furiously denied.
"That's all you care about, isn't it? Not me," Nicky shot back before admitting: "I'm sick of all the lies. I can't do it anymore."
Nicky's plight worsened when Naomi Walters (Karene Peter) mentioned his fight with Cain Dingle ( Jeff Hordley ) in front of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Gabby.
"Cain did that to you? Why didn't you tell me?," Gabby asked as Will threatened to put the Dingle stalwart "in his place".
Later, Nicky begged his father to "walk away" from his obsession with getting revenge on Kim but he refused.
"Think about your mum. Do you really want her ending up out on the street because of you?" Caleb insisted.
He angrily reminded Nicky: "Kim killed my dad, your granddad… We are going to make her pay!"
There was been a lot of speculation over the identity of Nicky's mum ever since it was revealed the nanny was Caleb's son.
Will Nicky's mum make an appearance in the village shortly as Caleb continues to put pressure on his son?
Meanwhile, Emmerdale star Alexander Lincoln who plays Kim's son Jamie Tate has hinted at a possible return.
Speaking to The Sun, he said when asked if Emmerdale bosses want him back: "Yes definitely, It's a conversation that I've had quite a few times. At the moment I'm quite enjoying this vibe and writing, so we'll see what happens in the future."
