Emmerdale's Caleb actor teases arrival of mystery wife after viewers 'solve identity'

Emmerdale star Will Ash teased whether fans will meet Caleb Miligan's mystery ex-wife, after mentions of the off-screen character for months.

Caleb recently revealed to residents that he had children and had separated from his wife - while nothing has been said about her identity.

Viewers know Nicky Miligan is Caleb's secret son, and the pair have teamed up to take down Kim Tate - following the reveal her ex-husband Frank Tate is Caleb's father.

Emmerdale fans began to speculate that Caleb's wife might be a past character, with Tina Dingle and Sadie King both tipped to be the mystery woman.

Now, actor Will has revealed whether fans could meet the wife of his character ahead of her identity being fully revealed.

Emmerdale star Will Ash admitted he wanted Caleb Miligan's mystery wife to arrive on the ITV soap (ITV)

Speaking to The Mirror and other press recently, Caleb actor Will shared his thoughts on the mother of Nicky, Caleb's son, making her debut.

Amid fans speculating over her identity, Will said it would be "interesting" for the character's ex to show up at some point in the future and reveal what happened between them.

He said: "I think it would be interesting bringing in that character down the line because there's obviously a wealth of history there, and Nicky sees this potential of them getting back together but he's having none of it, so it would be nice."

Will also addressed whether his character was using the Dingles, his own family, to get at Kim or if he really did care for them.

Will said: "He's invested in his family definitely, Cain and Chas and the Dingles, because they have been so good to him and so accepting.

"There is a bitterness and a darkness in Caleb because he was brought up in a children's home and being discarded as a baby, so there's a real darkness inside of him.

"They give him a lot of light so I think he genuinely wants to stay in the village and with them. There is also the thing about wanting… for me it gets the better of him, this pursuit of Home Farm.

"He loses sight of everything going on, it becomes almost like greed, he can't see the wood from the trees, he's horrible to his son and kind of throws the rest of his family under the bus all because he hates Kim. He really, really hates her."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
