Emmerdale's Cain makes secret contact with mystery character ahead of sibling's arrival

Emmerdale's Cain Dingle receives a mysterious set of letters next week - ahead of the arrival of his long-lost sibling.

The much-loved soap character is currently in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of Al Chapman, despite the fact it was his son Kyle Winchester who aimed the gun at Al. Cain is protecting his son Kyle, with Amy and Moira also keeping the secret too.

However, he is set to have another upset coming his way as next week, he's contacted by a mystery person who has been writing to him frequently whilst he's been in prison - but he's not keen for them to be in contact.

In his prison cell, once the prison officer has gone, Cain looks over the letter before ripping it up. Elsewhere, back at the house, Isaac and Kyle are sent two presents from an unknown person - who could it be and is there a connection?

Curious to know who it might belong to, Moira visits Cian in prison where she quizzes him on who the presents are from. Cain keeps quite and hides his concern about who might be behind the unexpected gifts.

Moira tells Cain that she's left the Christmas card from Faith for him with the prison guard and later, the guard heads into his cell and gives the letter to Cain, but he ignores it and isn't ready to read it.

He asks for a phone call but the prison guard isn't too helpful, telling him he'll try and see what he can do for him.

At home, Moira is keen to have as normal a Christmas a possible with the family as she watches Kyle pay.

Back at the prison, Cain is on the phone to a mystery person. As the prison officer looks over to Cain, he lowers his voice. When the person on the other end of the phone refuses something, Cain slams the phone down - but who is it and what do they want?

It comes after Emmerdale confirmed the casting of Will Ash as Cain's long-lost brother Caleb. Producer Laura Shaw teased: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Will Ash to the Village. It's fantastic to have such a high calibre and immensely talented actor join our wonderful team. Arriving on screen on Christmas Day, Caleb has to undoubtedly be the most unexpected and shocking Christmas gift Cain and Chas have ever received! Calm and in control, rich and successful, at first glance Caleb is everything his brother isn't, but will the pair find they have more in common than they thought?

"What secrets from the past will come back to haunt them and how will the rest of the family react when Caleb strolls into town? His arrival certainly promises to shake things up for the Dingles and make 2023 start off with a huge bang!"
