Emmerdale fans have been pointing out a number of blunders as Meena's case went to trial this week.
The serial killer finally had her day in court, as she laid out a string of accusations about Ben Tucker trying to kill her before she hit him on the head with an oar "in self-defence" whilst she also claimed Dr Liam Cavanagh relentlessly pursued her and they had an affair and soon later she was pregnant with either Liam or Billy Fletcher's baby, which she lost.
Putting on the tears, she made a number of bold claims - all of which viewers know are absolutely false, but as Meena took to the stand today, fans couldn't help but point out a string of gaffes in the court scenes.
Multiple absent witnesses
Viewers have been left fuming as the trial wrapped up without hearing from a number of key witnesses including Vinny Dingle, Billy and Dawn Fletcher and even Charles Anderson and Leyla Cavanagh - who were present in court.
Vinny was held hostage by Meena at the same time Manpreet was, whilst the killer targeted Billy and Dawn on their wedding day, the same day she shot Leyla and left her for dead. So fans were confused that none of them appeared at the trial, and neither were questioned by the defence or the prosecution about what they saw.
"Why was only Manpreet & Liam called as Prosecution witnesses? What about everyone else? Dawn, Billy, Harriet, Priya & even Vinny? He was kept hostage/drugged for days top after all not just Manpreet," one angry fan wrote online.
Another added: "How on earth is Vinny not there. He can talk about being held hostage. It’s a farce, the whole thing. It’s pathetically done. How can she not be guilty of shooting Leyla etc. makes me sick, this is la la land, not Emmerdale."
The police were even missing from the court, as a third person wrote: "So many witnesses not interviewed in court… and what about the DS who interviewed Meena? Why wasn’t he questioned and asked about her reaction to her trophy box?? @emmerdale."
Physical evidence missing
Viewers will remember that Ben died after finding the video clip of Meena attempting to drown Victoria Sugden, but fans have been questioning why that wasn't shown during the trial.
Others were puzzled why DNA wasn't used and how the box of trinkets was not explored in detail, with it just being mentioned about the box and Meena giving a brief explanation of why she had the victims' possessions.
"Surely the fact there is a actual video of meena drowning Victoria, as well as the medical proof that meena never had a miscarriage after the fire accounts for something," one viewer wrote, as another added: "Not even a single mention of Meena's precious treasure box yet when the Detective was actually interviewing her after it's discovery he literally mentioned her DNA was all over it?"
A third shared online: "A trial for a serial killer. I have never seen the likes....no evidence, no exhibits no forensics," with a fourth writing: "The verdict's literally in less than 24 hours & they still haven't used half the f***ing evidence. Also why wasn't Vinny also called as a witness? They didn't even bother to run a DNA test on Leanna's body/clothing at the time yet found Liv's DNA after Ben really?"
No medical records
Meena accused Liam or Billy of being the father to her unborn baby, which she said she sadly lost after the Woolpack pub arson. Liam soon found out that Meena had never had a miscarriage and told everyone it wasn't true.
Her barrister accused Liam of lying about that, but fans of the ITV soap were puzzled that the prosecution didn't just show the medical records, as that would have allowed them to prove Meena was the one not telling the truth.
"What about the doctor who examined her in hospital after the pub blew up who said she was never pregnant," one questioned, as another added: "So they can look at her medical records to see if Ben had hurt her but not if she was really pregnant???"
"Hello! Bloods taken from her after the explosion, would have confirmed that there was no pregnancy. Also didn't one of the hospital staff already say that there was never a baby. Unless cross examination by the CPS," a third wrote.
Meena's solo speech
Meena gave a rousing speech, complete with tears whilst in court last night - but fans weren't sure that would happen in a real trial, as they blasted the prosecution for not quizzing her and stopping her lengthy monologue.
Whilst Manpreet, Liam and Wendy were all questioned and interrupted multiple times during their time on the stand, some viewers were confused why the serial killer wasn't afforded the same treatment.
"Do courts really let witnesses spout hours of narrative full of unverifiable and uncorroborated assumptions and opinion completely unchallenged? #Emmerdale," one viewer fumed.
Another wrote: "Questions not asked to Meena about Ben. “How did you manage to grab the oar with his hand around your throat?” “How did you hit him on the back of the head with enough force to kill him, if he was strangling you?” #Emmerdale."
*Emmerdale continues Thursday night at 7.30pm on ITV.
