Chelsea Halfpenny has announced that she's expecting a baby with her fiancé James Baxter, having shared the news with her followers on social media earlier this afternoon.
The actor, 31 - best known for having played Amy Wyatt on Emmerdale from 2010 until 2013 - took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sporting a baby bump.
She wrote: "As if renovating a house wasn't enough, we've decided to grow a baby at the same time! Officially MENTAL. But we are so close to meeting our new little best mate".
James, 32 - whose acting credits include a lead role in the revival of Waterloo Road - later shared the photo of his fiancée on his Instagram Story alongside heart emojis.
The couple - who got engaged back in 2021 - have been congratulated on the news by some of Chelsea's followers in the comments section of her post on the platform earlier.
This included a comment from actor Natalie Ann Jamieson, who is currently playing Amy on the ITV soap. She took over the role in 2019, following Chelsea's departure in 2013. Natalie reacted to the news earlier: "Congratulations".
Chelsea received responses from some of her former co-stars from the show, including Mark Charnock - who plays Marlon Dingle. He commented earlier: "Bloody well hooray!"
Whilst cast member Laura Norton - who has played Amy's mother Kerry Wyatt since 2012 - commented: "I can't". She included a heart eyed emoji and a broken heart emoji.
They weren't the only soap stars to react as EastEnders' Danielle Harold congratulated Chelsea, and Corrie alum Rebecca Ryan said: "So so so happy for you. You look amazing".
Chelsea - who is the niece of fellow actor Jill Halfpenny - appeared in Byker Grove as Lucy Summerbee earlier in her career before landing the role of Amy on Emmerdale.
Following her time on the ITV soap from 2010 until her departure in 2013, the actor joined the cast of Casualty. She played Alicia Munroe on the show from 2015 until 2019.
Chelsea may be recognised by theatre fans for having appeared in the West End production of 9 to 5: The Musical and more recently starring in the UK tour of Waitress.
Her fiancé James previously appeared in Emmerdale himself, having played Jake Doland. The character was introduced in 2007 and remained on the show until 2009.
James - whose credits include Red Dwarf and Hebburn - more recently played Anthony in sitcom Alma's Not Normal. His character is the ex-boyfriend of the title character.
And earlier this year he appeared as deputy head teacher Joe Casey in the latest series of Waterloo Road. He was among the new characters introduced as part of its revival.
