There’s a suggestion should we ever see Debbie Dingle return to Emmerdale the character will be recast.
This is according to a story published by our colleagues at the Daily Star. In the article, which features fan theory, it states that, if the character of Debbie Dingle, does return we might see a new acting star portraying her.
Despite the character not appearing in the soap for some time she has been part of recent Emmerdale storylines. Sarah Sugden, played by Katie Hill, is currently visiting mum Debbie in Scotland.

At the start of the month, Sarah was seen heading north of the border with Chloe Harris. This move was taken as Sarah wanted to separate Chloe from Mackenzie Boyd.
As Emmerdale fans know, Mackenzie is due to marry Charity Dingle later this year. Although, in good old soap tradition, he’s also father to Chloe Harris’ baby.
Sarah discovered the secret and in an attempt to spare grandmother Charity’s heartache she dragged Chloe to Scotland with her.
It does feel inevitable fireworks will come in regards to this ongoing storyline and there’s a suggestion Debbie Dingle might play a part. As alluded to, some Emmerdale fans believe, if Debbie does return, Charley Webb would not reprise the role.
When mum-of-three Charley, who has recently appeared in BBC’s new crime drama Better announced her Emmerdale exit, she said: “This is always my most asked question but I've never answered it before because I've never wanted to make a big deal of it.
“I left to have (third child) Ace two-years-ago. I went back at the end of last year (2021) for 10 weeks to complete a storyline. So, I guess officially it's been a year. I never felt the need to announce it, which is why we didn't.”
As Charley is currently pursuing other acting roles, elsewhere she has filmed scenes for The Long Shadow, an Emmerdale return looks unlikely.
On Twitter, one fan penned: “I think they'll bring Debbie back as a recast. The actor who currently plays her says she isn't returning to the show.

We’ll have to wait and see if Debbie Dingle will return and if Charley Webb will play her.
