Emmerdale real life couple Chelsea Halfpenny and James Baxter announce they are engaged

Two former Emmerdale stars have announced that they are engaged in a loved up post on social media.

Chelsea Halfpenny, 29, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the news that she was now engaged to fiance 30-year-old James Baxter.

The couple shared a selfie with a glass of champagne and a glimpse of the ring.

Chelsea, who played the role of Amy Wyatt in the soap, first confirmed her romance with the soap hunk, who played Jake Doland, in November 2018.

Posting the photos on Instagram Chelsea said: "He liked it so he went and put a friggin ring on it!!!!!!!! Obv changed his name to ‘FIANCÈ immediately on my phone.

"Also congrats to my 14-year-old self on managing to get the boy with the spikey hair that she fancied so much."

She also showed off to her 20,000 followers a glimpse of her engagement ring.

She also shared a sweet throwback picture from when the couple were younger (@chelseahalfpenny)

In the heartwarming post, she also shared a picture of the couple when they were younger, showcasing James's 'spikey hair'.

Several famous faces and Emmerdale stars took to the comments to congratulate the pair on the news.

Podcaster Rosie Ramsey wrote: "Yeeeeees!!!! Congratulations. Lovely news xxx."

Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sugden in the soap, wrote: "Oh chels!!!!!! Amazing news!!! Love you both!! Xxxx."

Sammy Winward, known for playing Katie Sugden in Emmerdale, wrote: "The best news in life!!!! So happy for you both. The dreamiest couple and that ring!! Actual heaven xxxx."

Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle, said it was "basically the best news of life".

Chelsea left the ITV soap in 2013 after taking on the role of Amy for three years and went on to star in 9 to 5 Musical.
