Emmerdale prison guard's real job 'exposed' as Meena's downfall 'imminent'

Emmerdale's Meena Jutla may have missed a trick according to fans as they theorised Ian Beaker's 'real job'.

This week, the residents of Emmerdale have taken to the stand to give evidence against the serial killer. This comes after Meena pleaded not guilty to the murders of Nadine, Andrea Tate, Ben Tucker and Leanna Cavanagh and the attempted murders of Victoria Sugden, Vinny Dingle and her sister Manpreet Sharma.

So far, Meena's trial has fallen in her favour after Dr Liam Cavanagh and Manpreet cracked while being cross-examined. Meena was also in high spirits after she manipulated a new prison officer to work with her against the justice system.

However, viewers have theorised prison officer Ian Baker may not be falling for her usual tricks as they predicted the soap newcomer is actually working for the police, reports the Daily Star.

One user said: “Does anyone else think ‘Ian’ is an undercover copper getting info on Meena #emmerdale.” Another user said: “Is Ian a double agent? #emmerdale” as they also predicted the prison officer was faking his affection for the criminal."

A third said: “Now I've been thinking … Ian the ‘prison officer’ who is actually a police officer who’ll be called as a last-minute character witness to wipe the smug smile off Meena’s face, once & for all. The villagers need justice.”

It comes after viewers recognised the actor playing Meena's prison guard in a recent episode of the ITV soap. The newcomer was seen speaking to Meena in her cell after seemingly replacing another officer.

After getting to know the star behind bars, fans were shocked to learn that the actor Dean Smith had appeared in another beloved soap on the silver screen. Between 2009 and 2010, the actor starred in Waterloo Road where he played the role of Phillip Ryan, reprising his role one year later in 2011.

The TV star has also appeared in a range of other big shows too, including Doctors, Snatch and soaps including Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.
