Emmerdale star Lewis Cope has revealed Nicky's real reason for pushing his dad Caleb off the cliff in a shock twist.
There had been much talk about who had been the one to push Caleb Miligan - played by Will Ash - off the ravine in huge scenes last week. Caleb had angered quite a lot of residents recently when it was revealed he had been playing them all, including his own siblings Cain and Chas Dingle ( Jeff Hordley and Lucy Pargeter) in the hope of stealing Kim Tate's (Claire King) fortune.
However, Kim soon rumbled what he was doing and he was ousted by pretty much the whole village. Other suspects who could've pushed Caleb were Will Taylor, who is married to Kim, Mack, who was left fuming over Caleb's moment with Charity, as well as Leyla, who was horrified to find out about Charity as well as being felt used by Caleb.
But in tonight's episode, it was confirmed to viewers that Nicky was the one who pushed Caleb - but we are yet to know whether or not Caleb remembers it was him, or if that will remain a secret to everyone else.
Actor Lewis Cope, who plays Nicky, has now revealed the real reason why his character decided to push his father.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Lewis said: "Nicky had left the village on the wedding day, but he comes back to make amends with his father. But as he’s coming back into the village, he’s found that Caleb has bought Mill Cottage and he’s given over asking price and he’s always had more than enough money, which was the reason why Nicky went along with the plan.
"He has lied to Nicky that he had no money and that his mum was going to lose the house, so the reason we were getting revenge so he could help the mum. He just lied to him all the way through and it’s only at that point that he finds out that information."
He added: "He follows him into the woods and it’s a spur of the moment thing. He’s been backed into a corner, he feels betrayed and something just comes over him and anger gets the best over him."
Lewis insists Nicky has great regret the moment he pushes him and fears what it could mean for his future.
"The moment he pushes, he feels massive regret - but also a mix of relief. Just because he felt as though his dad has manipulated him for so long. He still loves his dad and it would be tragic if he was to die. If they found out it was him, he could go to prison," he added.
