An Emmerdale newcomer has enjoyed a great first day working on the soap.
Debbie Howard has taken to Twitter to celebrate directing her first episode of the ITV soap. Debbie was an actor for 25 years before moving into writing and directing when she founded Big Buddha Films.
Posting on Twitter at the start of this week, Debbie posted: “Day one of @emmerdale in the can. What a first day. Big thanks to a top cast and crew.”

Many congratulated Debbie on her exciting career move. We saw @MerlynMMR write: “So pleased it’s going so brilliantly! Enjoy Xx.”
While @SamSewe54699900 added: “Brilliant stuff, I would have loved to have been there to observe.”
And @actormichaela posted: “Hope you’ve had a wonderful day. Well done.”
Elsewhere, Debbie has directed episodes of Doctors. While when she acted she appeared as a paramedic in Emmerdale as well as having a small part in Coronation Street.
