Emmerdale filming cancelled as snow hits village set

Emmerdale filming has come to a halt because of heavy snow from Storm Larissa.

All across Yorkshire, there’s been snow settling with it impacting schools and workforces. Another which suffered disruption was the set of Emmerdale.

The heavy snow saw filming cancelled for the day at the purpose-built village, off Eccup Lane in Leeds used for scenes. Emmerdale favourite Nick Miles, who plays Jimmy King, tweeted the news.

He said: "Filming on Emmerdale cancelled today due to the snow. Look out Leeds. We're all going sledging."

The set was hit by snow on Thursday but filming continued. On Friday morning, it proved too much.

Fellow stars Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby Thomas, and Lewis Cope, who plays Nicky, took to Instagram to share photos of the snowy scene.

Before moving to Leeds, Emmerdale was filmed in the village of Esholt in West Yorkshire. As the ITV soap continued to grow, the programme built its own village set for filming with other scenes being filmed at a Leeds city centre studio.
