Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out what really happened to vicar Charles Anderson after he was found lying on the floor of the chapel on Monday evening’s episode.
The vicar was rushed to hospital following a heated discussion with his daughter Naomi (Kevin Mathurin) Walters (Karene Peter) in the chapel as they finally came face to face.
Charles was relieved when Naomi agreed to talk things through with him, but were soon embroiled in a heated argument, which his partner Manpreet Sharma overheard.
She headed towards the church and saw an upset and angry Naomi burst out and walk away.
Once inside the church, Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) was horrified to find Charles lying on the floor unconscious and called for an ambulance.
Shortly after, when she spotted the paramedics arriving, Naomi rushed back over to the church as Manpreet tended to an unconscious Charles.
When a shaken Naomi asked if Charles was okay, Manpreet shouted at her to get out – before she was arrested by Harriet on suspicion of assault.
However, Emmerdale fans think Naomi could in fact by innocent of the crime, despite a comparison Manpreet later makes between her and village murderer Meena.
A number of soap fans instead clocked Ethan toying with the electrics earlier in the episode, after a number of comments about the dodgy wiring in the chapel building have been made in recent episodes.
Emmerdale fans now think this could be the culprit behind Charles’s sudden turn, with one taking to Twitter to suggest: “Vicar been electrocuted.”
Another wrote: “Lazy Marcus should have fixed the electrics by now! Poor Naomi will get the blame for this.”
Another wrote: “He got electrocuted playing electrician!” as a fellow fan chimed: “So I’m guessing he gets electrocuted.”
“I reckon Naomi probably *could* kick Chucky’s arse but probably *didn’t* on this occasion. They were still arguing when she left,” another speculative fan wrote.
Later on in the episode in scenes at the hospital, Manpreet and Ethan received an update on Charles' serious head injury.
Charles is put in an induced coma due to the haemorrhage, with hospital workers saying “the next few hours will be critical”.
While Manprett asks what could have caused the injury, the nurse refuses to answer, saying: “My main concern is making sure he’s okay.”
Ethan was then completely thrown when Manpreet compared Naomi's actions to that of her killer sister Meena.
