Emmerdale fans have 'worked out' a twist with Meena Jutla that will see her stay in the soap until October.
The serial killer's fate was revealed during last night's episode of the ITV soap, with viewers being told that Meena is still alive despite her horror fall - but she was taken by police for questioning.
Dr Liam Cavanagh pushed her off the same bridge where Meena killed his daughter Leanna Cavanagh two years ago and fans were convinced it might finally end her killer streak once and for all.
But some fans of the show are convinced Meena will stay in the programme until October and her exit storyline will be part of a huge 50th anniversary celebration.
One wrote on Twitter : " Emmerdale Psycho Meena isn't dead. She'll recover, be arrested for her crimes, go to Prison and then she'll return more unhinged for revenge on everyone in October in the show's big 50th Anniversary Week episodes!"
"Keeping Meena for the 50th anniversary special. #emmerdale," a second added, whilst a third person was not so keen on the idea, writing: "If they drag this out to October I will be vex yuh see #emmerdale."
A fourth penned: "Just kill Meena or bang her up, this is beyond ridiculous now!! I just hope this storyline doesn’t drag on till October!"
It comes after show bosses teased a huge 50th anniversary on the ITV soap.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, the show's producers teased: "We’ve been thinking about the 50th all the time.
"I think we probably held back some of our big ideas while Covid was so prominent in our lives because we didn’t know what we could achieve. But Super Soap Week has really shown us what we can do."
As well as huge stunts, bosses want to create big stories behind them, as they added: "And as brilliant as stunts are - we’ve got to have the stories to back up those stunts. We can blow up anything but if there’s no story behind it - what’s the point?
"Our focus at the moment is to really build those stories so when we get to our Golden Month of Celebration, we’ve got secrets that the viewers are desperate to be revealed."
"There’s probably going to be a birth in there perhaps - babies in soaps are either born on programme celebrations or Christmas so there’s going to be one of those happening," they said.
"And we’ll do something epic - there will be an epic stunt because we’re well-known for that. But at the heart of it, the best loved characters in our show are really going to be tested in some big emotional stories."
They added: "It’s really key to us that whatever happens in the 50th - the fallout is huge. This will continue and take us into 2023."
