Emmerdle’s Faith Dingle has been left reeling from a major revelation amid her ongoing health deterioration on the ITV soap.
Faith ( Sally Dexter ), who has started using a walking stick amid her terminal cancer diagnosis, has been refusing to let her illness defeat her and instead trying to live her life to the full.
However, her worries were compounded during scenes on Thursday evening when she overheard a big secret, learning Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) cheated on Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
Faith overheard the pair have a vicious argument in the Woolpack toilets, as she emerged from one of the cubicles and then squeezed the drama out of Mack once Chloe had fled.
However, following the scenes fans have been left fearful about how Mack could lash out if cornered by the matriarch ahead of her exit from the ITV soap.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “I hope Mack doesn't decide to do in Faith early to keep his sordid secret,” as another echoed: “Mack better not finish Faith off.”
“Oooh. Faith in toilet. Is Mack going to threaten her like he did Ryan,” another penned as a fourth said: “Mackenzie please don't use a dying woman.”
Faith was left clearly unsure what to do about it, begging the question of whether she could be the one to expose the affair to the wider village – and, most crucially, Charity Dingle.
The scenes came after Emmerdale viewers finally learned who Mackenzie cheated on Charity with, following weeks of rampant speculation.
The highly anticipated reveal in scenes on Wednesday evening came after Mack received a phone call from his mystery one-night stand, leaving him shaken.
Deciding enough was enough, Mack headed to the outskirts of the village to deal with the situation, on edge as he awaited the secret meeting – only for Chloe to appear.
As Mack’s one-night-stand was finally revealed, he laid into her for chasing him to meet-up.
Not holding anything back, he said: “The only reason I agreed to meet with you is because you were not taking the very, very strong hints. So I'll spell it out for you. I'm with Charity.”
He continued: “You were a one-off. You need to stop harassing me. You and me don't exist. You were a massive drunken mistake.”
As Chloe started to tear up, he then savagely replied: “Grow up. I don't want anything to do with you,” and stormed off.
But in later scenes, Chloe shared news of the illicit rendezvous with Kerry, who was left shocked by the revelation.
She replied: “You need to forget about him. If Charity finds out about this she'll rip your head off. There's plenty of nice lads out there.”
Chloe said: “I knew you were not going to understand,” and as Kerry then left for work soap fans were in for another bombshell, as Chloe turned to her bag and pulled out a positive pregnancy test.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
