Emmerdale fans slams 'toxic' Mackenzie after 'disgusting' behaviour towards Charity Dingle

Emmerdale fans have branded Mackenzie Boyd as "toxic" for "pressuring" Charity Dingle into keeping her baby.

ITV viewers were shocked to learn this week that teenager Amelia Spencer wasn't the only one currently expecting a baby. Many have appreciated the similarities between Amelia's and Charity's storyline saying it was "so important" to watch both contemplate abortion as a "perfectly valid option" at two different ages.

Charity, worried about her age and strained relationships with her other children, initially didn't tell Mackenzie - the baby's father - about the pregnancy and booked an appointment at an abortion clinic. However, she later decided to share the news with him.

Reluctant to go through with the pregnancy, she explained to Mack why she wanted to have the abortion, which ended with him accusing her of not letting him have any input. During tonight's episode the couple again discussed their options and Mack, keen to be a dad, promised to support her and ended up changing her mind.

Viewers were left upset by this and said they felt as if Mack had manipulated Charity into having the baby. Ryan Glendenning tweeted: "Charity was clearly pressured into that decision."

@Darls_Chickens wrote: "Mack pressuring charity to have a fifth unwanted kid is toxic AF." They later added: "Mack is soooooo guilting Charity into having his kid - this is disgusting."

Stephen Garrod replied: "Did you really expect anything else. He's an emotional abuser, who never takes no for an answer!"

Michelle said: "Charity was defo pressured into this baby decision by Mackrat. What has actually happened to Queen Charity Dingle?!"

Lily said: "I wonder how many women who were angry about the verdict in the US are loving that Mack has managed to again push Charity into a decision you can clearly see she does not want."

And Mackboyd commented: "Disappointed how Mack has been written like every other bloke in Emmerdale. Charity said several times she doesn’t want it but he’s pushed her into it so he can be a dad and I never want that for him to be that kind of man."

But not everyone was unhappy about how the plotline developed. Abi said: "Another unpopular opinion but I quite like the idea of Mack and Charity having a baby."

And Jem wrote: "Charity and Mack's baby is going to be so cute!"

Meanwhile fans continue to speculate who Amelia's baby daddy could be after two big hints were dropped earlier this week. Viewers are certain it must be Heath Hope after it was revealed that the baby's father is "a teen like me" and "someone from church".

Emmerdale every weekday on ITV at 7.30pm. Stream episodes at the ITV Hub.
