Emmerdale fans slam 'cruel' Ryan for making Charity suffer in heart-wrenching scene

Emmerdale fans were not impressed with Ryan Stocks on Thursday evening as he shared a heart-wrenching scene with his mum Charity Dingle.

Ryan finally decided to forgive Charity (Emma Atkins) for not being there for him earlier this week when he'd found out that his adoptive mum Irene had died.

After deciding to put their differences aside, Ryan (James Moore) asked his biological mum if she would read the eulogy he'd written for Irene's funeral.

"I'm so sorry that you never got a chance to say goodbye properly, it's just not right," Charity told him.

"That's why I'm trying to make up for it," Ryan replied. "I've written the eulogy but I don't even know if it's any good. Will you read it?"

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle has been feeling guilty this week over her son Ryan (ITV)

Charity took the handwritten words from him and began to read: "Why would anyone want a kid like him? That's what people asked when I was growing up, and you always said the same thing: 'Because he makes the world a better place'.

"I was the luckiest kid in the world to be adopted by you. You wrapped me in your arms and you took care of me. Took me home when nobody else wanted me."

With her voice breaking, Charity continued: "You loved me so much, you let me be myself, make mistakes, follow my own path. When I was bullied, you tore into my teacher, and the woman in the shop who muttered under her breath.

"You fought for me every day and I'll always be grateful. I'm so lucky you chose me. You're the best mum and I'll never forget it."

Turning to Ryan and fighting back tears, Charity told him: "Irene was an amazing woman.

Ryan asked Charity to read over the eulogy he'd written for his adoptive mum Irene (ITV)

"I won't make any promises, because I tend to break them when I do, but I will try and be a better mum."

"You're not that bad!" Ryan replied as he told her that her kids love her.

"I owe Irene so much. She raised the sweetest, most kindest, most loyal, most loving man. She didn't deserve me swooping in and stealing you away. I'm a horrible person," Charity added.

Some viewers clearly felt it was unfair of Ryan to ask Charity to read the eulogy (ITV)

"No, I came because I wanted to get to know you," Ryan reassured her. "I'm glad I found you, I'm glad I'm here."

"Me too," she told him. "I'm so sorry I wasn't more supportive over Irene, but I promise I'll try. I want another chance, I want to make it up to you."

Some viewers clearly felt it was unfair of Ryan to ask Charity to read the eulogy, and took to Twitter to comment.

One person posted: "Asking charity to read that is just mean if I’m honest #Emmerdale."

Another tweeted: "feels a little cruel to make charity read that #Emmerdale."

However, third person didn't seem to mind and wrote: "Charity and Ryan scenes I love them #Emmerdale."
