Emmerdale fans share 'hope' for Charity as they point out 'blunder' in Mack's baby bombshell

Emmerdale fans have shared their 'hopes' for Charity Dingle as she finally discovered that her new husband Mackenzie Boyd has fathered a secret child. The Woolpack owner thought she was in marital bliss after tying the knot with the reformed bad boy.

However, viewers of the ITV soap watched her world shatter during scenes aired on Thursday night (May 11), as she saw Mack refer to himself as 'daddy' as he worried over his newborn son, Reuben, who has been seriously ill in hospital.

As fans know, Mack enjoyed a one-night stand with Chloe Harris last year during a tiff with his then-girlfriend Charity. He then gave her the cold shoulder when she repeatedly tried to contact him before Chloe eventually dropped the bombshell that she was pregnant.

Charity's granddaughter, Sarah, is one of the only other people to know about their secret, alongside Nate Robinson, after she overheard them talking before staging a panic attack amid her past heart struggles to stop him from telling Charity the truth.

And while he was tying the knot last month, Chloe gave birth to her son Reuben and Mack has clearly been struggling with not being in his newborn son's life. In emotional scenes last week, Mack secretly met up with Chloe after learning she was moving to Scotland tomorrow and the tearful new dad held Reuben for the first time.

But when the baby started crying, he handed him back to Chloe and walked away, devastated to be losing his son. However, Reuben has since fallen ill, and was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis, leaving Chloe worried sick. While Mack was keeping his distance, he was clearly cut up about not being there for his son and after some stern words from Nate, he headed to the hospital to be with him and Chloe.

Meanwhile, Charity decided to also pay a visit alongside Chloe's sister Amy Wyatt after they received news that Reuben was having to have another brain scan. As they arrived at the hospital, they got the good news from Chloe that doctors confirmed the baby didn't have brain damage.

And while Amy headed to the shop to get some treats for her sister, Charity headed straight to the ward. She was at first confused when she spotted Mack overcome with emotions as he stood with Reuben, though she quickly put together that he must be the child's mysterious father.

Charity then rushed off back to the village, and soon, she was back face-to-face with her husband. Mack tried to put down his recent behaviour to being anxious about becoming a husband, but Charity refused to listen and asked: "Why were you at the hospital? Why were you sitting with Chloe's baby?

"Why did you tell him you were his daddy?" It was then that Mack finally confessed: "He's mine. I'm Reuben's dad," and Charity didn't utter a word and simply walked away. And it's left Emmerdale fans hoping that Charity's darker side will re-emerge.

@PenelopeRothe said: "Just caught up on Emmerdale I want charity to wreck hell. I want utter rage and fury. I also want a charity and Noah scene they have been the best recently. Mack is just an utter beep beep #emmerdale." @MeeshyJay tweeted: "I hope Charity comes up with the mother of all revenge #emmerdale."

@photographycpb added: "If I was Mack I’d leave Emmerdale!! Charity is planning his death as we speak!! Brilliant episode: I wasn’t expecting it to come out so soon!!"

But others think they spotted a blunder during the hospital scenes. @MackBoydLove tweeted: "How in the blue hell could Charity hear every word Mack was saying when he was in a private room with his back to the window and had a mask on?? #emmerdale." @cavellheaton commented: "No chance she'd of heard what they were saying from outside the room."

@karenlangley_life_ added: "Sorry but you can’t hear that clearly through those windows - that was a little far fetched but thank god it’s finally out - but don’t turn Charity into a nasty piece over it - for once keep the empathy going."
