Emmerdale fans pointed out a glaring blunder during the latest instalment of the ITV soap, as Marlon Dingle returned home after he suffered a debilitating stroke.
The character, played by Mark Charnock, experienced heartbreaking scenes on the soap as his daughter April tried to care for him after returning home from the hospital.
In Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV soap, April was enjoying spending time with her dad, but when she helped him with a drink of water he started to choke in terrifying scenes.
April immediately panicked, thinking her dad was having another stroke as she desperately shouted for Rhona to come and help.
The incident left both Marlon and his daughter distraught, with April scared that something bad is going to happen to her dad while she is with him.
But following the distressing scenes between April and Marlon, many ITV fans were left shocked by April’s slightly brash actions towards her dad.
As she gave him the glass of water, one Emmerdale fan said she had “yanked” his head back - and should have been told how to properly give her dad a drink by medical staff.
Taking to Twitter to comment on the moment, one savagely wrote: “April chucking water down Marlon's gob like she's trying to put out a fire.”
Another chimed: “Maybe they could've showed April how to help Marlon & what to do if he choked.”
“You wouldn’t give Marlon water that quickly & surely everyone would have been shown how to give liquids,” another posted.
A fellow fan wrote: “The way April yanked Marlon's head back to give him a drink,” as another wrote: “Jesus, April chill out, there’s no rush. She nearly put the whole cup down Marlon’s throat.”
Another fan wrote: “Oh she fairly threw that down his throat! Did no one tell her how to do it?”
“Sorry but the way April yanked her dad's head back and gave him that drink, no wonder he choked!” another wrote.
This comes after fiancé Rhona Goskirk was excited to have Marlon finally home, as Mary tried to assure her that she would be there to support them during the transition.
There were some awkward moments as everyone tried to get Marlon used to his new surroundings, but Marlon was only truly hurt as he appeared to be sleeping and overheard Rhona and Mary.
The pair spoke about how Marlon had trouble using the toilet, as Rhona explained: “He got really cross with me at one point, but I don't know, it felt normal.”
Rhona went on to say that it made her think about what Mary previously said about “walking away” from Marlon if it got any harder.
“In that moment, I realised I was wrong,” Rhona explained. “I could never walk away from him. No matter what.”
As they went to get a cup of tea, Marlon opened his eyes, revealing he had been listening and was deeply hurt that Rhona had spoken to her mum about walking away.
In Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV soap, Marlon told a horrified Rhona that he had heard the discussion.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
