Emmerdale fans have said they were left feeling 'uncomfortable' as they tuned into Thursday night's hour-long edition of the ITV soap. It was finally the day of baby Thomas' christening in the village after Gabby Thomas was almost forced to postpone the family event by Kim Tate.
In scenes aired earlier this week, Kim was seen demanding Gabby move the date of her grandson's christening after her other grandchild, Millie Tate, was unable to attend because she was 'sick'.
After a word from partner Will Taylor and housekeeper Lydia Dingle, Kim eventually relented and accepted that the day should go ahead as planned. But Gabby wanted to do something for Kim and headed to see Millie's other grandmother, Hazel, who got custody after the death of Millie's mum, Andrea Tate.
Hazel was still adamant Millie wasn't well enough to attend her half-brother's christening but when the youngster appeared looking fit and well, she had no choice but to change her mind but Hazel was soon seen making a phone call to Millie's dad Jamie who, unbeknown to his family, is still alive.
It was the day of the christening during Thursday night's Emmerdale and Kim was beyond thrilled when Hazel pulled up and saw Millie get out of the car. But things got off to an awkward start when the schoolgirl rejected a hug from Kim and appeared quiet, hiding behind Hazel.
As the rest of the family headed inside the church, Hazel kept Millie behind and reminded her that she wasn't to mention her dad and got her to practice, much to Millie's visible upset. Back at Home Farm, Kim had pulled out all the stops with champagne cocktails and more.
Even she appeared suspicious of Millie's unusual behaviour but wasn't able to get too close to her granddaughter because of Hazel, who was soon seen rummaging through Kim's drawers and taking Millie's passport.
However, Millie ended up spilling the secret about her dad when she delivered a message to baby Thomas while thinking she was alone. She said: "I've got secrets about our daddy. Do you understand what I'm saying, Thomas? But you're not allowed to tell anybody. It's a secret message from our daddy. He told me to say he loves you and is going to do everything he can to see you soon."
Unbeknown to Millie, Gabby heard the whole message as it was broadcast through Thomas' baby monitor and headed straight upstairs to try and glean more information from Millie before she was interrupted by Hazel.
By the end of the episode, Gabby was sharing her suspicions with Jamie's ex-Dawn Fletcher who appeared to agree to help her find out whether Jamie is alive and faked his own death - which viewers know he did.
But, Emmerdale viewers couldn't help but share their thoughts over Millie being silenced by Hazel.
"Poor Millie..... that wasn't nice to watch. Hope they find out about Jamie quicker than the time it's taken to bring Meena to trial," @paulae67 said.
@ debblesdebz echoed: "Poor Millie really uncomfortable watching tonight…."
"I don't think it's right using Millie like that. She is only a child and Hazel shouldn't make her feel uncomfortable around Kim and other people," @juliebradley12345 commented.
@juliaanne_anna shared: "I felt really uncomfortable to watch terrible storyline doing that to a child with life long damage that won’t be undone poor Millie."
"Poor millie hazel is evil telling her to be quiet #Emmerdale," @laurenangelama1 tweeted.
@beckyfalkner96 fumed: "Nasty woman hope she gets found out not fit be a grandma."
