Emmerdale viewers were fighting back tears on Monday evening as they tuned into the latest episode of the ITV soap.
The latest instalment of the much-loved show saw poor Ryan (James Moore) receive some devastating news about his adoptive mum, Irene.
Struggling to get his head around her death, Ryan tried to contact Charity (Emma Atkins) about the sad news, but she rejected his call as she enjoyed a playdate with her ex Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick).
Ryan ended up confiding in Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) during a heartfelt conversation, in which he revealed he hadn't answered a call from Irene the day before.
"She hadn't been well, nobody told me. I hadn't talked to her for ages," he said, fighting back tears.
"If she'd wanted to let you know, she would have reached out," Mack replied, referring to Irene being unwell.
"She tried yesterday, I didn't pick up, she thought I didn't care," Ryan responded as he broke down.
"Oh mate, she knew you cared pal. She was happy you were living your own life, she was proud of you," Mack said, trying to make him feel better.
Mackenzie then offered to drive Ryan to his brother, but as they made their way to the car, they bumped in Charity and Vanessa.
"Ohhhhhh two-pronged attack now is it? You're so predictable," Charity blurted out as Mack tried to speak to her.
"If that's your dismal attempt to try and get back in my good books, you've failed miserably," she then added.
"Leave it, she's not worth it," Ryan told Mack as he tried to get in the vehicle.
"Why are you both looking so miserable? You're getting to see your geeky film, Puff the Magic Dragon, or whatever it's called!" Charity laughed.
"C'mon mate, ignore her, I've got you," Mack told Ryan as he broke down and admitted: "I wanted to see my real mum."
Emmerdale viewers were left feeling emotional from the scenes and took to Twitter to comment.
One person posted: "Aww poor Ryan and how sweet is Mack been #Emmerdale."
Another tweeted: "A lovely heartfelt scene between Mack and Ryan #Emmerdale," followed by the crying face emoji.
A third person commented: "I’m tearing up #emmerdale," while another added: "Poor Ryan. #Emmerdale."
