Emmerdale fans' heartbreak as Leyla makes troubling decision

Emmerdale fans have been left heartbroken after Leyla made a troubling decision in the ITV show's latest episode.

Viewers have watched on in agony in recent episodes as Roxy Shahidi's character struggles with addiction, but tonight saw her situation go from bad to worse.

After previously being shocked to learn Suzy Merton gave Holly Barton money before her tragic overdose, Leyla continues to spiral.

But while Suzy is able to channel her distress into making a positive change, trying to give up drugs, Leyla is still struggling.

Opening up about her addition, Leyla explains why she needed a release. She goes on to confide further in Suzy, telling her how hard she found it to support Liam through Meena's trial.

"It nearly broke me," she says. But the episode then takes a turn as Leyla makes a troubling decision: opting to conceal her continued drug-use.

Despite her earlier honesty, she lies to Suzy. She lets her believe she will get rid of her drugs but she is later spotted removing a bag of cocaine from her bin.

The scene prompted several viewers to express their sadness at watching Leyla's addiction unfold. Twitter user @NiickBoii wrote: "Of course Leyla is tempted. This will end so badly."

And @WiniBoansi said: "Leyla has become addicted to drugs. Oh dear #Emmerdale." For @griannedoherty2, the situation is heart-breaking. They shared a number of quotes from Leyla's touching conversation with Suzy, before adding a heartbroken emoji.
