Emmerdale fans were left frustrated when Meena Jutla returned to screens at the start of Friday’s instalment of the soap, despite assuming her storyline had concluded with the dramatic courtroom scenes the night before.
Meena had been accused of murdering Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh - and whilst the whole of the village and the audience all knew about her crimes, she had categorically denied them in court.
It meant that Dr Liam Cavanagh - Leanna's father - and Dr Manpreet Sharma - Meena's sister - had to take to the stand as they were quizzed about their relationship with Meena, as the killer accused them of being responsible for the deaths in one way or another.
But last night Meena’s verdict was finally handed down, as the jury found her guilty of all the charges made against her.
Emmerdale fans had assumed this was the dramatic conclusion of the killer nurses’s storyline, so were then confused when Meena was seen in prison at the start of Friday’s episode.
Meena was in her cell watching the extensive news coverage of her explosive day in court unfold.
As Meena’s television privileges were revoked by a prison guard, fans took to Twitter to respond to the continued screen time of the character and predict what her evil character could be plotting.
One wrote: “Omg why is she still on screen? I spent a fortune last night celebrating the back of her! Refund meee!”
Another posted: “Just when you thought you’d seen the last of Meena for at least a while.”
A third fan tweeted: “Oh come on!!!! I thought we'd seen the last of Meena last night!” as another wrote: “FFS! We are going to get Meena storyline while in prison. END IT!”
A fellow ITV viewer wrote: “Are you actually kidding me?? It’s still not the end of Meena.”
A number of Emmerdale fans predicted a “twist” for the character on the soap, ranging from a Shawshank-style escape of even the murder of prison guard Ian.
One wrote: “There must be a twist coming, it can't end this way for poor Meena, she must escape or something.”
Another wrote: “Clearly Meena is going to escape if she's still here,” as a third posted: “I reckon Meena has one last trick up her sleeve! Another escape attempt???”
A fellow fan wrote: “Is it weird that I feel like Meena is going to do an unseen murder of Ian?”
