Emmerdale fans fuming as Meena 'gets away with murder' after police make shock decision

Emmerdale fans were left feeling frustrated on Friday evening as Meena Jutla appeared to be off the hook for the murder of Andrea Tate.

The evil nurse, played by Paige Sandhu, killed Andrea (Anna Nightingale) last month but the police still have no leads on who is responsible.

In the latest instalment of the ITV soap, Meena was seen looking rather smug as she overheard an officer discussing the case with Andrea's partner Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin).

"I wanted to speak to you face-to-face," the police officer told Charles, as he remarked: "That doesn't sound like good news."

"I'm sorry for your loss, I appreciate how difficult this must be and I don't think this is going to make things any better," the officer continued.

"We've investigated every line of enquiry and at present we're unable to establish any proof of criminal behaviour in relation to Ms Tate's death. We spoke to forensics and we believe she fell and hit her head on impact."

He then added: "The investigation will remain open," as Charles butted in: "But not active?"

"We won't be taking it any further at this stage," the officer confirmed as Charles looked gutted.

He then spotted Meena listening in and asked her: "Can we help you?"

"Sorry I just couldn't help overhearing," Meena said looking smug.

Looking embarrassed, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) ordered her sister to leave and apologised to Charles.

The officer then said: "If any new information comes to light, we will of course look into it but as things stand..." as Charles added: "You're done."

Emmerdale fans were left frustrated by the development and took to Twitter to vent.

One person posted: "And once again, Meena literally gets away with murder. #Emmerdale."

Another tweeted: "So meena gets away with murder again. This show is going down hill and very fast #emmerdale."

A third fumed: "@emmerdale You being bloody serious #Emmerdale," while a fourth viewer added: "Meena’s got away with yet another murder #Emmerdale."

Someone else predicted: "and there you have it, the Meena storyline is starting its long haul we wont see her commupence till next october mark my words #Emmerdale (sic)."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
