Emmerdale fans have been left fearful a heartbreaking storyline is in store for Amelia Spencer, as she ordered diet pills on the latest episode of the ITV soap.
Amelia, played by Daisy Campbell, has been left with low self esteem after an online troll made comments about her body.
The negative comment left Amelia feeling low, despite the fact that the picture Gabby posted online had over 82 likes and mostly positive comments.
Sadly, Amelia focused in on one commenter who was going by the name ‘Buff Boy 44,’ who said she looked ‘bony and ill.’
Confidence shattered, Amelia quickly deleted the whole post.
Amelia continued to focus on her social media presence on Wednesday’s instalment of the soap, talking with Samson about how keen she was to have an influencer-level body.
Samson (Sam Hall) attempted to reassure Amelia, praising her looks and talking about the manipulated nature of online images.
But when he mentioned the quick-fix approach to weight loss some women have taken, using pills bought online, instead of scaring Amelia off, it seemed to give her an idea.
In later scenes, she was shown on her phone purchasing a mystery supplement called Apremine in a suspicious bottle.
Emmerdale fans were quick to notice Samson’s blunder, taking to Twitter to react.
One wrote: “Samson you've given her an idea,” as another warned: “Uh oh don’t give her ideas Samson she’s vulnerable enough.”
Another said: “Of course instead of Amelia taking Samson's advice she'll go the opposite way & wallop some pills down her gullet.”
Another cheeky fan joked: “Has Samson just given Amelia a terrible idea? Maybe he should become an influencer.”
Some weighed in to praise Samson for his choice words and warn Amelia off the controversial pills, with one writing: “Amelia you’re lovely as you are Samson is right,” as another wrote: “Don’t do it Amelia.”
A number of soap fans were fearful where the storyline could end and predicted Amelia could resort to even more drastic methods to attain the look she wants.
One predicted: “Amelia will end up being anorexic,” as another said: “Amelia is so naturally pretty. Hope she doesn't ruin herself with stupid fillers, overdone make up etc. All that just makes you look older and tacky.”
This comes after fans weighed in earlier in the week to theorise who Amelia’s mystery online troll could be - with many pointing the finger at Cathy, particularly given that she previously wrote mean comments online.
One wrote: “Oh Samson big mistake telling her that, Cathy will be the leaving the message on Amelia's pictures, I bet my hat on it.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
