Emmerdale fans demand to know where 'missing' characters are

Emmerdale fans were left confused during scenes that aired on Monday evening as Amelia's baby Esther became unwell.

While he usually has little to do with her, Samson had taken an interest in his biological daughter and was looking after her for the day. He was spotted by his niece Sarah who came over to tell him off.

Samson was sat scrolling on his phone while the baby lay in the pram, and Sarah thought this meant he wasn't interested in her after all.

When Sarah fussed over baby Esther she noticed she was warm. She told Samson she was "burning up" before the two rushed her home and began looking for a thermometer.

Sarah asked Samson if it was "normal" for the baby to be "so limp". As the two panicked, viewers watching at home said two regular characters must have gone "missing".

Taking to Twitter, Maria said: "Just open the door! Liam and Manpreet are usually just walking around the village, not doctoring". Ashley said: "Can only assume Liam and Manpreet have gone missing".

@dpt2891 said: "Why didn't Samson just ring Manpreet or Liam? They never seem to have patients so they would have been available". PJ said: "Why don't you call one of the 2 GPs in Emmerdale?"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX
