Emmerdale fans crying at child star April's 'powerful' performance after stroke drama

Emmerdale fans have been left with broken hearts this evening because of the emotional scenes involving child star Amelia Flanagan.

The 13-year-old excelled with her acting skills as April Windsor in Emmerdale’s tear-jerking episode which aired tonight. Viewers saw Marlon Dingle’s family and loved ones still struggling to come to terms with the popular character’s stroke.

We saw April, played by Amelia Flanagan, in the hospital by her father’s side. This led to emotional exchanges between April and Marlon.

Emmerdale fans took to Twitter to praise the young acting star. We’ve rounded up some of the praise April received.

Fan @legs86_little said: “Is it sad that I'm blubbering already at @emmerdale.in fact don't answer that.” Another @AmandaLouise_K wrote: “Not me in tears at April’s words. Hits so close to home.”

While @mikepriestley13 viewer wrote: “Powerful scene that with April seeing Marlon like that. I said it before but I had to do that with a relative who suffered a stroke It was tough to do at my age to see family in that pain. But at April age wow. (I know it’s not real but it does happen) #Emmerdale.”

Another fan @MillieBright77 said: “Earlier I was thinking if I lost my mum or my dad don't know know what I do. But watching April was hard. She's an amazing actress #Emmerdale.”

Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle has previously received praise from Emmerdale viewers. It is hoped the storyline will raise awareness of the battles faced by those who have suffered strokes - as well as the challenges of their families.
