Emmerdale fans were left puzzled as the ITV soap failed to be appear at its billed time this evening.
Fans were expecting to get two episodes of the soap tonight, after all the schedule shake ups following the Queen's passing last week. The soap usually airs every weekday at 7.30pm on ITV for half an hour, with an hour long episode on Thursdays.
However, because of the monarch's sad passing, multiple channels including ITV have had to change their schedules to include all the rolling news coverage and special documentaries about the late monarch and her successor, King Charles III.
Viewers tuning into ITV at 8pm today were expecting to see the latest from the Yorkshire village, including an update on Charity and Mack as he continues to feel guilt over his one night stand and the latest twist in the tale as Leyla and Liam clash over her recovery.
However, instead, they were presented with rolling news coverage from ITV as Queen Elizabeth's four children - King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew - all appeared to stand vigil around their mother's coffin, joined by a number of other royal family members who came to pay their respects too including Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
Confused fans took to Twitter to puzzle where Emmerdale had gone to, before it was revealed just one episode would air tonight now and the second one will now air on Sunday at 6.30pm so schedules can return to more normality next week.
"Anyone know if Emmerdale is on tonight?" one fan quizzed, as a second frustrated fan wanting their soap fix added: "Fuming that emmerdale is not only delayed but the double we were promised is now only one!!!!!!"
A third wrote: "They’ve only gone and dropped tonight’s double helping of #Emmerdale," as a fourth mused: "So #Emmerdale has gone from 1 hour tonight to just a 30 minute episode in a quick scheduled change for continuing coverage of the queen."
Emmerdale is preparing for its big 50th anniversary celebrations in October, where a huge storm will rip through the village.
"‘It’s very much a wind storm rather than a rain storm. We’ve got some amazing wind machines being tested at the moment which are epic – the sound team are going to have a nightmare with them in the background! The storm will feel incredibly different and it involves so many of our families. It’s not just a storm that affects one small group, it affects the entire village so I think it will feel different," show bosses teased of the upcoming huge stunt which will leave lives in danger!
