Emmerdale fans have been full of praise for their handling of Marshall’s coming out storyline.
In recent weeks, Emmerdale viewers have watched in shock at the horrific backlash against teenager Marshall, from his dad Colin, after he told him he’s gay.
During Friday’s episode, Colin went to visit his son Marshall. He said: “Have you had chance to think about what I had to say? God showing you the way? I won’t let you give in, living of sin.”

Marshall replied: “I’ve had to hide this for a long time. None of your preaching is going to change that.I’m proud of who I am.”
Angered by what he heard, Colin demanded Marshall return home with him. He refused which resulted in a confrontation where Jai and Laurel stepped in.
Referring to staying with the couple, Marshall told his dad: “This is my home now and you are not welcome in it.” Many Emmerdale fans said they were cheering from their sofas.
We saw @RyanTheSoapking post: “Jai saying that Marshall is their 4th child. I'm glad that Marshall is staying with Laurel and Jai.” While @SARamsay1 added: “Well said Marshall! I'm proud of him. His dad has shown his bigoted ways and true colours. #Emmerdale.”
