Emmerdale fans were heartbroken and in tears as the Dingles bought the seaside to Faith ahead of her death.
It has been confirmed the matriarch of the Dingle family - played by Sally Dexter - will bid farewell to the world in scenes set to air this week. Faith is battling terminal breast cancer, having told her family about her devastating diagnosis.
In emotional scenes tonight, with Faith too poorly to travel to the seaside herself, the family were still keen to do something for her and planned a very special day surrounded by all her loved ones and family friends.
Led by her children Chas Dingle and Cain Dingle, and supported by Faith's daughter in law Moira, the family decided to turn a corner of the Yorkshire village into a real-life slice of the seaside.
Faith was surprised with music, seaside games and even an ice cream truck.
Faith was thrilled when her friend Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) showed up in an ice cream truck and the pair reconnected with one another.
At the end of the episode, Cain asked his mum to dance as they shared a sweet moment together as they danced to the song they had once danced to during a trip to Butlins together.
However, it all became too much for Cain and he rushed off, clearly overcome by emotion over his memories of that time. As Faith told Cain she loved him, he struggled to take it all in and ran away, leaving Faith standing there.
Later, Faith explained to her former lover Zak that she was so happy after the day she had. "Nothing can top today, it was perfect. Absolutely perfect. If I was to die tomorrow, I should die happy. Because I'm at peace, finally, at peace."
Following the scenes, emotional viewers took to Twitter to share their heartbreak over the whole special episode.
"Breaks my heart watching Faith. Absolutely love her character. I'm gonna be in bits when she goes. #Emmerdale," one fan wrote, as another added: "I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared for the next couple of days of @emmerdale! Faith Dingle and Cain."
A third shared: "Watching @emmerdale tonight, just before we lost my mum last year. Going to the seaside was the 1 thing she wanted to go to before she died. We ran out of time so couldn't so feeling a bit sad watching it tonight if I'm honest."
Speaking of her upcoming final scenes, Sally Dexter said: "I found it really quite poignant to film, I knew it meant Faith's time in Emmerdale was up, and so was mine. I always knew Faith was coming back to die. My idea was to have her save Cain and Chas from some sort of attack in the Woolie - say from a bullet or a knife aimed at her children from a crazed intruder!
"I could picture her sliding down the side of the bar, with Cain and Chas declaring her a heroine! But the story Jane (Hudson) and the team wanted was a far more important and difficult one to tell. I only hope we have done as much justice as we could."
