Emmerdale fans were very confused on Thursday night, as David Metcalfe returned to the village just two days after he made a last-minute exit with Victoria Sugden.
The lovers decided to flee the village and head to London, after drama surrounding his serial killer ex Meena Jutla.
Victoria finally found out Meena had tried to drown her during the survival challenge event in October, after video footage was discovered.
The news left her shaken, and she feared Meena might somehow get out of prison and try to kill her again.
David decided they should take some time away from the village to get their heads around everything, with him and Victoria leaving during Tuesday's episode.
But at the start of Thursdays visit to the Dales, he was already back and in the shop much to son Jacob's surprise.
He confirmed he got back in the early hours, with it thought Victoria was back too.
Viewers were already baffled about the couple leaving the village again so soon after their previous departure around October time.
Cast members Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins stopped filming until around December, following an alleged race row on the show.
The characters were sad to have gone away for a while to recover from the events of the survival challenge when Victoria almost died, and in January they returned for the first time.
So for just weeks later the pair to be vanishing from the village again, fans were confused over the brief exits and asked what was going on.
Thursday's episode seeing David back just barely two days later only confused viewers more, who couldn't believe how briefly they went away for.
One fan tweeted: "That was a very quick holiday David," as another said: "Wait David and Victoria back already."
A third added: "David's back already seriously?" as another wrote: "David and Victoria only went away for a couple of days."
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
