A dramatic week in the Emmerdale village got underway tonight as femme fatale Meena Jutla (played by Paige Sandhu) made her long awaited return to the dales.
The villainous nurse has been on the run for the past few weeks, with a paranoid Dawn even confessing that she felt as though someone had been watching her.
As fans of the show will now, the bride to be was already on tenterhooks after her wedding dress was destroyed, raising her suspicions that perhaps Meena could be behind the cruel ploy.

Yet in tonight’s episode, the killer took things one step further following Billy and his fiancée Dawn's hotly-anticipated Valentine's Day wedding - as she kidnapped the bride following her vows by locking her in a limo and driving off into the distance.
Having only arrived on our screens back in September 2020, Meena Jutla has already proven herself to be a deadly adversary for many of the villages residents, with the murderous nurse having already killed Leanna Cavanagh, Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker as well as attempting to kill Victoria Sugden and her own sister, Manpreet Sharma.
Yet not all fans have been thrilled with the storyline’s pace and with the return of Meena tonight, with several taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations at the far fetched nature of the writing.
“Just when you thought #emmerdale couldn't get any more ridiculous, it pulls this off tonight. Come on writers... stop competing with each other for the most stupid storylines?” Said twitter user @Pilch1972
While @P65Drew shared the slightly more brutal take, saying: “ #meenamustgo please sack this producer they must be on some hallucinogenic substance to think up these corny stupid over the top #wannabe #harlencoben storylines my Emmerdale days could be over if this ends badly.”
User @LaineyL10 also shared her thoughts on the fantastical storyline, saying, “Oh ffs how ridiculous. Meena, who is wanted by the police, somehow manages to get hold of a gun and hire a stretch limo without being seen or caught.”
Other fans of the show were far more forgiving, with many on tenterhooks as they awaited to see if their favourite characters would make it through the week unscathed.
“I love Meena, psycho character is played superbly I don’t get why ppl hate her,” tweeted @mickyg37.
While @Chadderbox2018 praised tonight’s episode saying “When Dawn got in the limo and then realised Meena was driving, so fabulously camp! The #Emmerdale writers must have the most fun coming up with this stuff ”
Will Dawn be Meena's next victim and will Paige Sandhu's character be caught this week? Here's everything you need to know ahead of this week’s dramatic showdown.
Who will Meena kill next on Emmerdale?
Unsurprisingly, at the top of Meena's kill list are fan favourites Billy Fletcher and Dawn Taylor, with the latter having snagged the man for herself right from under Meena’s nose.
Convinced that she was the one who was supposed to end up with Billy and starting a new life of marital bliss, Meena is furious that it is former prostitute and drug addict Dawn getting the fairytale ending she'd always wanted instead.
In tonight’s exciting scenes, (February 14) viewers saw the wedding ceremony get underway without a hitch, only for Meena to kidnap the blushing bride shortly after they exchanged vows.
Driving them to a remote viaduct, dastardly Meena is expected to make Billy choose between saving his own life or that of his new bride.
In a series of promotional stills released ahead of the episode showing Meena firing a gun, has she added another number to her body count? Or maybe even two?
David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden are also expected to be in danger this week, with Meena having already attempted to kill the pair once - after they’d been seeing each other behind her back.
Returning to our screens after a three-month break in Portugal could their return coincidence with a more permanent exit?
Does Meena get caught in Emmerdale?
While it isn't yet known exactly how Meena’s finale will play out, ITV bosses recently confirmed that the cruel nurse would definitely "get what's coming to her".
Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson said: “Judgement Day for Meena is coming. Whether she will get away with murder or not, you’ll have to wait to find out.
“I think within the next few months Meena will get what’s coming to her.”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub, with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
