Emmerdale Ellis Chapman's speedy exit questioned by fans

Emmerdale fans have questioned the storyline surrounding Ellis Chapman's exit from the soap.

It was confirmed that he will be leaving the Dales after the character, played by Aaron Anthony, received a phone call offering him a new job - on the other side of the world in Australia.

On tonight's episode Cain Dingle angrily pulled up Billy Fletcher as he asked him where his brother Ellis was.

He replied: "I don't know. He's sorting out a visa or something."

Cain explained that Belle was in bits after hearing the news of her boyfriend leaving the village to which Ellis' brother replied: "You hate Ellis so you should be pleased he's moving thousands of miles away."

But fans thought the storyline was somewhat unbelievable as they took to Twitter to share their comments.

Lisa said: "Isn't it amazing how people can get visas & everything sorted quickly & then fly off to Australia just like that....#emmerdale."

Mark said: "So I briefly tune into #Emmerdale and one of the characters has got a new job in Australia and is expected to start the beginning of next week. Is that even in the realms of reality? Presumably it'd take ages to sort out a Visa/travel/accommodation etc."

Sharon said: "Nobody can get a working visa for Australia within a week! #emmerdale."

Belle's brother, Cain, and Ellis' dad, Al, have been at war for weeks, and things don't appear to be cooling down.

Cain Dingle is furious with Belle for becoming involved with Ellis, not only because of his feud with Al but also because Ellis almost got Cain's son Kyle killed recently.

But now that he is ditching Belle for the new opportunity abroad, it has only made Cain angrier at the family.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays
