Elizabeth Estensen has a completely different life to that of Diane Sugden, which is definitely for the best.
The legendary actress has been playing the feisty character for 22 years and has been involved in a whole heap of explosive storylines.
Diane has been held hostage in a siege, threatened her rival with a shotgun, been stabbed, battled colon cancer and nearly died in a helicopter crash which killed her sister.
When Elizabeth first headed for the Dales in 1999, she described her character as "a tart with a heart" and revealed Diane likes a good time, is kind-hearted and easy to get on with.
Although she was not a big fan of Diane's style as it initially consisted of a lot of tight clothing, high heels and a fabulous blonde wig.
Many Emmerdale fans will be unaware that Diane's hair is not actually real - but Elizabeth showed off her real locks during a TV appearance in 2016.

During an interview on This Morning in November 2016 she swapped the blonde wig for her natural grey hair.
While speaking about Diane threatening Chrissie with a gun, the actress asked hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby if her character was lying about being scared.
"I don't know, I thought perhaps you might know," she hilariously told the presenters.
After graduating from Manchester Polytechnic and moving to Liverpool to star on the stage, Elizabeth made her TV debut in 1975 as Carol Boswell in BBC sitcom The Liver Birds
She then had roles in The Bill, Casualty, Cracker and Last of the Summer Wine.
While she is certainly a Dales icon, but actually appeared on rival soap Coronation Street first.

Elizabeth appeared on Corrie as Fiona Middleton's mother Pam between 1996 and 1998.

She was actually referenced recently when her granddaughter Emma Brooker learned Steve McDonald was her real dad.
The actress has been married to her husband, Philip Allen, since May 1983 and the couple has one son together, James Otto Allen.
A major part of Diane's life in the village has been her relationship with Jack Sugden, who she started a friendship with during his marriage breakdown which led to a steamy relationship.
Elizabeth admitted she was initially concerned when she heard about the storyline as she feared some viewers may be put off by people of Jack and Diane's age kissing and having sex.
But she found that the plot was "absolutely fine in the end" and it started an on/off romance which then resulted in the pair getting married in 2004.

A day Elizabeth will never forget is when The Queen turned up on the Emmerdale set back in July 2002.
Her Majesty was given a tour around the village and took in all of the sites, including Diane's bed and breakfast and the famous Woolpack pub.
There was an explosive surprise when the post office was blown up just yards in front of where she was standing.
Part of the set exploded, with cast members screaming in panic when windows blasted out and debris scattered everywhere.
The Queen was standing right next to Elizabeth when it happened, but according to the cast she was "cool as a cucumber".
Elizabeth's character is involved in some of the drama this week when she goes to war with Jamie Tate.

Furious Diane wants to get revenge on Jamie for the way he has treated her granddaughter Gabby Thomas, who he got pregnant during an one-night stand earlier this year.
Jamie tried to pressure Gabby into having an abortion after finding out she was carrying his child and was fuming when mum Kim moved her into their home.
After being exposed as the person poisoning his own mother, Jamie was kicked out at Home Farm and was forced to move into the B&B.
However, Diane finally loses her rag because of his cruel attitude towards Gabby and throws him out.
Seething Diane is seen carrying a couple of black bags with Jamie's belongings in as she kicks him to the curb.
With nowhere else to go, Jamie goes crawling back to Andrea. How will Diane and Gabby take the news?
*Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
