Emmerdale's Charity Dingle is set for even more heartache, as son Ryan is given terrible news.
Having her ex Vanessa Woodfield's return to the village to contend with, Charity manages to make things worse for Ryan when he needs her most.
While Ryan receives a phone call that leaves him devastated, his biological mum enjoys a playdate with Vanessa and their boys.
Charity, who is dressed to the nines for the meeting, is enjoying herself so much she rejects a call from boyfriend Mackenzie.

But what Mackenzie is calling to say is that Ryan's adoptive mother Irene has died.
Mack offers to drive Ryan to his brother's house, and the next day he urges Ryan to tell Charity about Irene.
But it ends up being Mack who eventually blurts the news, leaving Charity furious he hadn't told her sooner.
Soon Charity is left hurt, worrying she's hurt both Mack and Ryan with her actions. Even Vanessa is annoyed by her typical Charity behaviour and storms off.
An upset Mack hits the bottle, and before long he's discussing his relationship problems with Dawn.
Vanessa encourages Charity to fix things with Mack, but before anything else can be said, Charity sees him drinking over the road.
A now drunk Mack sees Charity with Vanessa, so leans in to try and kiss Dawn.
Billy is left reeling to hear of the kiss the following day, while Mack declares he and Charity are finished.
Vanessa explains to Mackenzie that Charity was on her way to apologise, but will they be able to sort out their differences?
