Emmerdale boss drops cryptic clue about Christmas storylines with 'a lot happening'

Emmerdale is gearing up for a busy time in the village, as a devastating and deadly storm causes havoc and leaves lives in peril.

Details have now been revealed about the huge stunt, or stunts, that will change the lives of villagers forever.

Deaths have not been confirmed, but actor Kevin Mathurin recently told The Mirror that there would be "the odd funeral".

But the drama won't be stopping there, and following the tragic and life-changing fallout to the storm, there's more to come.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, producer Jane Hudson spilled that Christmas would also be a big time on the show.

While she remained coy over exact details, and explained it had only just been storylined, she did reveal there was plenty on the cards for our favourite residents.

She teased: "My press team will absolutely start throwing things at my head if I start talking about Christmas.

"We've only just storylined it, we issued the storylines last week for Christmas. There's a lot happening. That's your only clue."

Jane also discussed the huge fallout of the storm and the 50th celebrations, which will all have huge ramifications for the village.

She told us: "As we start our brilliant month we will be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.

"And then we will work our way into our storm week. And then, you know, when we get to the end of October it might be the end of our celebrations, but we will be ending that month with a storyline which kicks off a whole new story, and potentially sees one of our characters looking at spending the rest of their life in jail.

"I'm not going to tell you anything else about that story. Don't ask me because I will not tell you.

"But we are absolutely making sure that when our celebration month ends, it really is just the beginning of a whole new chapter particularly for one of our families."

Fellow producer Kate Brooks added: "As part of our big 50th Week, although there's a general month of celebrations, the big 50th week will focus on a massive storm that is going to rip through the village, and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake.

"Some of our best loved villagers will be in peril. And it's safe to say that literally the village won't be the same after this, and it will never be the same again, because the impact this storm has on people's lives is just massive."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
