Emmanuel Petit names the one Arsenal player he is not a big fan of despite title charge

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has admitted that he isn't a huge fan of January signing Jorginho.

The north London outfit were keen to bring in reinforcements during the winter transfer window, unsuccessfully attempting to prise Brighton star Moises Caicedo away from the Amex Stadium. Technical director Edu then moved onto backup targets, bringing in Jorginho from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £12million - a signing that was met with mixed reviews by the Gunners fanbase.

However, the Italian international has since settled in well at the Emirates Stadium, playing extremely well during last month's 4-2 victory over Aston Villa that saw his injury-time thunderbolt strike off the woodwork before going into the net via Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. That result saw Mikel Arteta's side regain their lead at the top of the Premier League standings, now sitting five points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

Still, the 31-year-old is yet to convince World Cup winner Petit, although the Frenchman did admit that he has looked like a different player since arriving in N5.

Speaking before the Gunners beat Everton this week, Petit told Premier League Odds: "City will put pressure on them every single day, but they are showing so much maturity and happiness. Happiness is so important and you can see that from Jorginho, he’s a different player.

"I’m not a big fan of Jorginho and I think he’s very happy he’s left Chelsea’s dressing room - all of a sudden he looks like a different player."
