Emmanuel Petit gives three reasons why Arsenal can win the title

Arsenal icon Emmanuel Petit has given three reasons why he thinks his former side can win their first Premier League title in over two decades.

The Gunners find themselves in a title race with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. They have come extremely close in recent seasons to winning their first league title in 21 years but have fell short.

Arne Slot’s side are the frontrunners on UK betting sites but Arsenal are right in the hunt to challenge them.

Why Does Emmanuel Petit Think Arsenal Can Win The Title?

Despite Liverpool looking favourites to triumph, Petit was quizzed on whether his former side could come out on top in the title race.

Telling Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports, Petit said: “Yes – and I’ll tell you why.

“Liverpool and other teams are dealing with so many competitions. Arsenal, they have so many injuries, but they are going to be back soon. They are top players as well, so they are going to be fresh.

“They are out, almost, of the two national cups, so they can concentrate on the Champions League and Premier League.

“Liverpool are not doing that well in the last few weeks. They are conceding goals all the time and they are not confident.

“Saka is coming back soon and the [January] market is not over yet as well.”

Arsenal Have It All To Do To Beat Liverpool

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently six points adrift of Liverpool in second. They’ve played a football game more than the Reds and recently slipped up in their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the weekend.

But their FA Cup exit has eased their schedule going into the second half of the season. Should they be dumped out of the Carabao Cup semis by Newcastle, it’ll see the Gunners put their full focus into the league and Europe.

Saka looks set to return from injury in March which will be a huge boost to Arsenal. But more slip-ups in the Premier League will make it a mountain to climb for the north London side should Liverpool start to run away with it.
