Emma Watson jokes she's 'still looking for parking' after her £30,000 car was towed in Stratford-upon-Avon

Harry Potter star Emma Watson has poked fun at herself after her £30,000 Audi S3 was towed and impounded by police in Stratford-upon-Avon earlier this week.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, with reports suggesting the 33-year-old’s car had been parked “illegally” for several hours in the West Midlands town.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday, the actress shared a light-hearted remark about her parking misadventure, jokingly writing: "Still searching for parking in Stratford upon Avon. Merchant of Venice [very] good if you can still get tickets," accompanied by a crying laughing face emoji.

Her tweet, which tagged the Royal Shakespeare Company, appeared to confirm that she had been attending a performance of The Merchant of Venice at the Swan Theatre while her car was causing a stir in a nearby car park.

The owner of local business expressed their frustration over her car allegedly “trapping” other vehicles in a car park for nearly four hours.

“The car had parked in front of our gate which is a no-parking zone,” the owner of Red Hot Mammas pizzeria told the Daily Mail.

“Three and a half hours of searching for the driver was the last thing I needed after working a 12-hour shift.”

Photographs published by the outlet captured Watson engaging with an officer and a tow truck driver as she attempted to resolve the situation.

According to eyewitnesses, who spoke with The Sun, the star was “pretty upset” before she was handed paperwork as her car was hauled away.

The eyewitness recalled: “Emma was pretty upset that her car was being towed away, she came running over shouting, ‘Hey, that’s my car’, and was arguing with the truck driver, but he was having none of it.

“Emma was with her mum who watched the whole thing in the street.”

Warwickshire Police confirmed that “a report of a blue Audi S3 parked across a driveway and blocking in two cars on High Street near the junction with Sheep Street in Stratford”.

Adding: “The report was made at 9.42pm and the car was impounded and taken away at 10.21pm. No crime was recorded.”
