Emma Thompson turned heads at Buckingham Palace as she wore white trainers while receiving her damehood from Prince William.
The Oscar-winning actress sported a pair of Stan Smith shoes, designed by Stella McCartney in collaboration with Adidas and costing £235.
It is not the first time the 59-year-old, who was recognised on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, has shirked heels.
When she walked on stage at the Golden Globes in 2014, she kicked off her red-bottomed Louboutins and said: “I just want you to know, this red, it’s my blood.”
At the ceremony on Wednesday, she received a damehood from her longterm friend the Duke of Cambridge.
She said: "I love Prince William. I've known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other," "I said, `I can't kiss you, can I?' And he said, `No don't'!"
“He's looking wonderful and doing so well. He said, 'This day isn't about me, it's about you'.'"
Dame Thompson was joined by husband Greg Wise and their children Tindyebwa Agaba and Gaia Romilly, 18.
She plans to use the honour to focus attention on the plight of poor children who don't get adequate food during school holidays.
The Love Actually star wasn’t the only star to be honoured on Wednesday with actress Sarah Gordy becoming the first actress with Down’s syndrome to be awarded an MBE.
Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish was given a knighthood for services to charity and Liverpool, boxer Anthony Joshua was made an OBE for services to sport and Jermaine Defoe, who touched hearts everywhere with his friendship with Bradley Lowery, was also awarded an OBE for his charity work.
