Actress Emma Stone and her husband, director Dave McCary, are currently in discussions to collaborate on an upcoming project at Universal. Stone is set to star in the film, while McCary will take on the role of director. The screenplay for the project was penned by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, who are supervising producers on the show Young Rock.
Although specific details about the project have not been revealed yet, it has been confirmed that Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, and Michael H. Weber will serve as producers through 21 Laps. Additionally, Stone, McCary, and Ali Herting are also in talks to produce the film through Fruit Tree.
Stone, fresh off her recent Academy Award win for Best Actress for her performance in 'Poor Things,' is a highly acclaimed actress known for her roles in films such as 'La La Land,' 'The Favourite,' 'The Help,' and 'Easy A.' She has also been involved in producing projects like 'The Curse' and is set to reunite with director Yorgos Lanthimos for the upcoming film 'Kinds of Kindness.'
McCary, a multi-talented writer, director, and producer, has previously worked on projects like 'A Real Pain' and 'Problemista.' He also served as an executive producer on 'The Curse' alongside Stone and directed 'Brigsby Bear.'
The couple first met in 2016 on the set of 'Saturday Night Live,' where McCary worked as a writer and director for five seasons. Stone is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, The Lede Company, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, while McCary is represented by Mosaic and Myman Greenspan.
Universal's senior executive vice president of production development, Erik Baiers, and creative executive, Jacqueline Garell, will oversee the untitled project on behalf of the studio.
