Emma Raducanu earns direct entry into the 2025 Australian Open

After finishing 2024 on a high, Emma Raducanu has earned direct entry into the 2025 Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 22-year-old flourished at the Billie Jean King Finals whereby she won all of her matches in straight sets. However, Great Britain were knocked out in the semi-final.

Raducanu is looking back to her best after a series of injuries seriously hampered her progress throughout large parts of this year.

The 2021 US Open winner is set to appoint Yutaka Nakamura as her new fitness coach. Nakamura has worked with the likes of Naomi Osaka and Maria Sharapova – and Raducanu hopes to banish her injury setbacks once and for all.

Emma Raducanu Will Start 2025 In New Zealand

Her current world ranking of 58 is enough to justify inclusion for the first Grand Slam of the new year – which starts on January 12. Before then, Raducanu will feature at the Auckland Open.

The WTA 250 ASB Classic will provide the perfect platform for Raducanu to get herself primed for the big one in Melbourne. Historically, she has lost in the last 16 on both of her previous appearances.

Confidence will be high around Raducanu’s camp as she looks to leave a lasting impression in New Zealand. Naturally,  a strong performance their will leave most other players fearing her in Australia.

I know I’m a dangerous player and I know no one wants to pull my name in the draw. I take pride in that, and I’m looking forward to hopefully staying on court longer next year.
I’m excited and just itchy to get on the practice court, and of course, seeing some of my performances this week, it just incentivises me to do more work,” Raducanu said.
Subsequently, the Brit looks like she could be a serious threat at Melbourne Park. However, she has never gotten past the second round in her three previous attempts.
The 2025 Australian Open will start on Sunday 12 January and conclude on Sunday 26 January.
