Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has kept her word from January's clash against Liverpool that was abandoned five minutes in. There will be free hotdogs all round for each ticket holder of the Chelsea-Liverpool rearranged tie at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.
The Blues welcome Liverpool once again after their Women’s Super League clash was abandoned back in January in their pursuit to defend their league title crown. Due to the kerfuffle and abrupt end to the game, Hayes promised to buy each returning fan a hot dog on the rearranged tie, to lighten the blow.
Chelsea are currently third in the standings, seven points behind leaders Manchester United with three games in hand. Mathematically the Blues are in a position to retain their domestic title but will need to pull maximum points from the remaining five games.
Seventh-place Liverpool got the better of Chelsea upon their return to top-flight football. Fran Kirby put the Blues ahead with an early penalty but Katie Stengal replied, netting her two penalties in the second half.
The sides met in the fourth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup for another exciting encounter that ended in a 3-2 win for Chelsea thanks to Sam Kerr’s hat-trick.
Wednesday night will prove to be another dramatic display where the loyal fans will receive one hotdog per ticket holder up until kick-off, with vegan options available. Ticket holders will need to collect their hot dogs before entering Kingsmeadow stadium.
