Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held separate telephone calls on Thursday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and head of the Hamas politburo Ismail Haniyeh, reported Qatar's state news agency (QNA).
Talks focused on the latest Palestinian developments.
Sheikh Tamim Qatar's firm position of supporting the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, starting with establishing an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He reiterated Qatar's rejection of the Israeli forces' escalation, and stressed the need to work on de-escalation and easing the tensions.
Both Abbas and Haniyeh expressed their great appreciation of the position.
